Betty and I are going to be starting the Before Five in a Row series for a little extra fun to go along with her Letter of the Week at
Confessions of a Homeschooler We've been reading a delightful book about Corduroy the bear by Don Freeman.
Here are some of the activities we did to go along with our book.
We played with, sorted and sewed with buttons. I even got somewhat crazy and sewed a little overall outfit for one of Betty's teddy bears. She and I sewed his lost button on him the last day.
She sorted bears in our little colored bowls.
We pretended with our own Corduroy bear and overalls in a baby bed. She also got a flashlight and pretended to be the night watchman (notice that the uniform is NOT standard issue). She hunted for the Corduroy that the boys and I hid for her. She would go into a room and say, "Now where are those two fuzzy brown ears?" in her tiny toddler voice.
We talked about what it means to be a friend and what Betty would really like to do or think that she'd like to do. She mostly just giggled and said, "I don't know."
I also got some swatches of fabric for her to explore and touch. She even learned a few names of fabric.
I got a lot of help from this post at Delightful Learning:

Our letter this week was G. We did many activities, but the one Betty liked best was by far the Glitter Glue "G". She is all about the bling. :)
