We have started learning about the Biblical Holidays this year starting with Passover. About fifty days after Passover, comes the Feast of Weeks or Shavuot. Some of you have heard of Pentacost which is the Greek name for the same feast. Jews celebrate this day as the day the Law was given to Moses. In Bible times, two loaves of new grain were waved before the Lord as an offering of the First Fruits of wheat. Christians know this day to be the day when the Holy Spirit came down in fire and the 12 apostles spoke in different languages.
Our family attempted to celebrate this important holiday by memorizing the 10 Commandments in order. We decorated with a plaque of the 10 Commandments and a sheaf of wheat as a centerpiece and we put the word "JOY" up on our mantel. I wanted to do a little more, but we were good to get those decorations up. We also played a gripping round of Bible Baseball on the front lawn.
I thought it would even be fun to set up the tent and let the kids spend the night out there. They got all snuggled in and then instead of a bedtime story, they all got to tell one bible story of their choosing. L chose Joshua. E chose her fave - Esther. Z chose ? (I can't remember. But I was really impressed at his story.) I told them all good night and gave kisses all around and went in to play on the computer thinking that I had done my motherly duty for the night and was now off the clock so to speak. Not 10 minutes later Betty comes in saying she can't sleep and Ter brings in Bo all crying that he wants his bed. Ter goes back out and starts to doze when Z says he can't sleep and wants to get in his own bed. L comes in a little emotional and says he can't sleep and he needs me to rub his back so he can calm down and fall asleep in his bed. Of course, E tells Ter that since it's just the two of them left, they might as well go in too. So much for the backyard campout. Better luck next time!
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. Ezekiel 36:27

OK. I think I blinked. Yes. Maybe twice. 2012....it's here! What have we been doing? I'm glad you asked.
E helped Betty learn to skate.
Took turns on the zip line.
Played with friends.
Rung in the New Year with the Ball Drop...
and goofy friends. :)
Looked cute again with "Love Glasses."
Walkin' in my boots.
Lookin' cute again in what is really a stretchy scarf but don't mention that because someone gets upset when it's called anything other than a dress.
Whew! I'm so glad I got my first post of 2012 out of the way. Maybe they will come a little more often now. :)
