Home Journal - Summer Wrap-Up Part 2

We hung out a lot at the local Splash Pad. The kids just love getting buckets of water dumped on their head for some reason!

Of course summer just wouldn't be the same without time with friends!

On Boy's Day we went to watch a friend play baseball. Bo had his favorite Mr. pal to teach him all about the game.

 Crazy dudes!

I love dirty summer faces. :)

Time with family is a definite advantage in summer!

It's got to be back to work for now. That is until our family vacation starts... :)

Home Journal - Summer Wrap-Up Part 1

We've had some fun this summer besides doing school for most of July and August, so I wanted to share those pics too.

The sprinkler got a big workout this summer until we were put on water rationing. :(

I love the way our flower bed looks in early summer - everything alive and green.

L spent a whole day this summer picking off cicada shells from our trees. He got a mess of 'em.

Home Journal - Sharing Birthday Pics

Seeing as it's a month after the fact, I better be sharing some b-day pics from E's party. She decided on a French theme since she l.o.v.e.d. the cheese and cracker taste testing when we visited France before. So... we had the cheese/fruit thing again.
We decorated in blue, white and red with French flags and red and blue plates. We remembered a little late that we were going to have some French Cafe music on. Oops! But it would have been a nice touch. After our hors d'oeuvres and champagne punch, the girls constructed Eiffel Towers from toothpicks and marshmallows. It was quite interesting to see all their configurations. ;)

Exact replica.

Inspired head gear.

Then we played a few Minute-to-Win-It type games. They had to transfer m&m's from one bowl to another by sucking through a straw (pictured), a couple of them involved to trampoline and not falling down, and blowing a cup across the floor with a balloon. We also did one where they had to talk non-stop for a minute - most of them did really well at that (go figure).
I also had them be artists with a twist. They had to draw a scene that I described while they closed their eyes. It was a hoot!

B-day girl blew out her candles and opened presents.

Before the parents picked them up, had a French Salon. We did some French manicures and pedicures and French braided their hair. It was lots of fun!
